<p>Cipladine Powder 10gm belongs to the class of medications called <i>antiseptic and disinfectant</i> primarily used to treat and prevent skin infections in minor burns, lacerations (deep cut in the skin), cuts, and abrasions (the first layer of skin is scraped off). It also helps to treat infections of the lining of the mouth and throat, such as gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) and mouth ulcers. Cipladine Powder 10gm is also used in infection control during insertion and care of urinary catheters, circumcision (removal of the foreskin from the human penis), suture removal and dressing changes.&nbsp;</p><p>Cipladine Powder 10gm works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing microbes. As a small molecule, iodine in Cipladine Powder 10gm can easily penetrate microorganisms and oxidizes essential proteins, nucleotides, and fatty acids, leading to cell death. Cipladine Powder 10gm is effective against bacteria (Gram-positive and Gram-negative, including antibiotic-resistant and antiseptic-resistant strains), fungi, viruses, and protozoa. Cipladine Powder 10gm is used in degerming (physical removal of microbes) stasis ulcers (wound on the leg or ankle due to damaged veins), decubitus ulcers (bed sores), and the umbilical area. It is also used for degerming the intravenous devices in blood transfusions, hyperalimentation (artificial supply of nutrients), cutdowns, and central venous line.<br><br>Brief your medical history to the doctor, if you are allergic to iodine or povidone. Let your doctor know if you have an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) or thyroid diseases, liver, and kidney problems. Please tell your doctor if you are undergoing any lithium therapy or treatment involving radioactive iodine. Cipladine Powder 10gm should not be used before or after radioiodine scintigraphy or radioiodine treatment of thyroid carcinoma. Using Cipladine Powder 10gm during breastfeeding may increase the iodine levels in the breastmilk, which can cause hypothyroidism in breastfed infants. Cipladine Powder 10gm can cause excessive iodine absorption with its vaginal use, hence avoid douching (washing) with Cipladine Powder 10gm and iodine-containing tampons during breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive before using Cipladine Powder 10gm since it can affect the unborn baby.</p>
