There are many variations of this treat, but the basic recipe consists of two parts: a chocolate crust and a filling made from either cream or custard. The filling can also include nuts, berries, whipped cream, or even pieces of chocolates (or other types of sweets).
How did chocolate truffles become so popular?
The history of chocolate truffle pastry can be traced back to the early 1800s. At that time, French confectioners were experimenting with new ways to make chocolates and pastries more flavorful and beautiful than ever before. One of their creations was a chocolate-dipped pastry called escargots de pâté (snails in cake). The combination of chocolate and snail was so successful that they decided to combine the two flavors into a single dessert - Chocolate Truffle Pastry!
