30 Breezy Outfits You Should Slip Into This Summer

By Somdutta Mazumder

Updated - Feb. 12, 2021 16 min read

As a devoted lover of the season, breaking up with winters has always been painful for me. But honestly, after 2 morose months of short-lived sunlight, frigid cold temperatures, and endless lethargy, I'm so ready to step into Spring right now. Maybe it has something to do with residing in the capital city, or the fact that I was already unusually lazy thanks to constant quarantine. But I have to say it, this was one of the most lifeless winters of my life so far.

What I'm dreaming of right now, is days of pleasant warm-cool weather, and slipping into breezy outfits with floral designs in pastel shades. I've missed that section of the closet so much, I'm all set to strip off these extra layers at a moment's notice. More than anything, I can't wait to ditch the pile of sweatshirts, and doll up in dreamy spring-summer ensembles. If that idea appeals to you and your fashion taste, I have something delightful in store for you. Let's browse through some gorgeous summer outfits for women that you can rock this year!

Casual Summer Ouftits

1. Printed Midi With High-Low Tiered-Hem & Basic White Tee

Midi skirts with delicate floral prints are the perfect choice of bottom wear to greet the season of summer, and this one is no exception. Featuring an asymmetrical high-low hem with pretty tiers and a mid-rise waist, this skirt is great for pairing with basic t-shirts in solid colour. Wear your tee in a front knot slightly above the waistline of your skirt, and throw on a minimal accessory like a pair of hoops, or a gold necklace with a pendant. One of the most easy-going summer outfits for women, a skirt and a t-shirt pairing will let you be comfortable and stylish in equal measure.

2. Oversized Graphic Tee, Cycling Shorts & Sneakers

In 2021, summer trends are going to be all about comfort, practicality and blending aspects of lounge-wear into our everyday casual summer outfits. Cycling shorts had already been trending, and considering the continuing prominence of athleisure fashion, we don't see them going anywhere. So make the most of this no-nonsense clothing piece by coupling it with an oversized graphic tee and a pair of white sporty sneakers. Congrats, you're summer-ready in just a jiffy!

3. Muscle Tee With Paperbag Denim Shorts & Gold Link Chain

One of the chicest casual summer outfits, the combination of a solid muscle tee with a pair of denim shorts is timelessly trendy. Adding some 2021 fashion elements into the mix, we'd suggest you go for a pair of paperpag denim shorts with a cinched high-waist. To accessorize, put on a thick gold link chain with a dangling pendant, and don a pair of casual sneakers as the finishing touch. Casual, hipster and laid-back summer fashion unlocked.

4. Sleeveless Polka Dot Co-Ords

Co-ordinates have been another raging fashion trend lately, and we've seen so many takes on this matchy top and bottom look. If you asked us, it doesn't get better than a breezy set of co-ords as your welcome back summer outfit. We're really digging this polka dot pair because of how summertime ready it looks. With a bralette style top that boasts of ruffles at the sleeves as well as tie-up detailing at the hem, along with a matching mini skirt adorned in polka dots, this is one of the most elegant casual summer outfit ideas we've put a pin on.

5. Plunge-Neck Corduroy Jumpsuit With Striped Tee

Relaxed, laidback and eye-catchy, this summer outfit for women sums up the vibe we'd want to embody in our fashion choices in 2021. I absolutely love the idea of making a plunge-neck jumpsuit much more wearable for daytime looks by throwing it on top of a t-shirt in complementary shades. The knit t-shirt underneath covered in bold horizontal stripes adds so much class and allure to this teal corduroy jumpsuit. It's one of those casual summer outfits that you can wear to work, for a coffee with your best friend, or simply to the grocery store on weekend, all with equal ease and grace.

6. Tie-Up Romper With Half Bell Sleeves

As someone who feels conscious of her arms during summers but doesn't hesitate to bare her legs, this relaxed romper is definitely going to be on my summer shopping list. Now that we've seen loungewear and PJs incorporated into practically every kind of outfit, whether its a super casual look for running errands in, or an outfit you can wear to work, we expect the trend to continue. Which is why we dig this romper so much. It makes for an uber-cool summer casual outfit for a late brunch with the girls or a lunch date with your beau. And with the addition of the right glam accessories and makeup, it can just as effortlessly become your go-to party look!

7. Sleeveless Printed Tunic With Mandarin Collar & Linen Culottes

If you're aiming for a tailored yet Bohemian look this summer, we'd highly recommend this pairing of a sleeveless printed tunic with chic culottes. You can choose from an array of tunic styles and silhouettes but this summery piece with botanical prints and a mandarin collar just puts us in such a relaxed mood. Coupled with it, is a pair of lime green linen culottes and some metallic sliders. It's honestly one of the most breezy summer office looks we've spotted so far.

8. Midi Tent Dress With Puffed Sleeves

Tent dresses are going to be one of the most prominent summer dress styles in 2021, thanks to the growing preference for blending comfort with style. Just quickly scroll through Zara if you don't believe us. So, paying heed to this straightforward fashion trend, we chose this delicately printed midi tent dress featuring dramatic puffed sleeves. There's something so retro about the appeal of this dress, although we'd certainly club it under hipster looks for the summer. Pair this piece with combat boots, sneakers, sliders or flip-flops, and choose your accessories accordingly.

9. Printed Wrap-Around Skirt With Graphic Tee

I think a graphic tee is one of the most effortless hacks to making a statement with your choice of attire, without saying much at all. So suffice it to say, most of my favourite summer outfits for women, especially casual summer outfits, include a grungy graphic t-shirt. In this look, one is paired with a wrap-around skirt dotted with animal print, that features an asymmetrical hemline with a front-slit for your legs. This duo makes for a fantastic daytime outfit that's just as uncomplicated as it is tremendously trendy!

10. Pastel Joggers With White Top & Sneakers

There we go with athleisure again, but if you want to stay under the spotlight in summer 2021, you must take a gander at one of the biggest fashion fads in recent times. We love casual summer outfits that include a pair of bright, baggy joggers, so this relaxed fit is one of our top recommendations. Here it's been put together with a white fitted knit tank top, a pair of white sneakers and some minimalistic gold accessories. Feel free to switch the top with what appeals to you, whether its a boxy crop top with quarter-sleeves or a silk-lace camisole.

Indian Outfits For Women

1. Sleeveless Kurti & Lace-Hemmed Palazzos In Floral Hand-Block Print

Easy ethnic wear is one of my go-to summer looks for when I just want to keep cool through the hot weather. Immensely breathable materials and breezy silhouettes are two defining qualities you should look for while picking ethnic clothes for summer. For instance, this set of cotton Kurti, palazzos and dupatta covered in beautiful floral hand-block print, is undeniably elegant yet extremely pleasant to the skin. Our favourite feature? That wide lace trimming at the hem of the palazzos!

2. Strappy Empire Waist Tunic & Straight-Leg Trousers

If you asked me to recommend Indian outfits for women that are ideal for summer, this duo instantly comes to mind. A strappy empire waist tunic with a strip belt under the bust, is coupled with a matching pair of straight-leg trousers. The set is made of lightweight cotton, and features horizontal pin-stripes in a lime-blue colour combination that just about screams spring. Throw on some tan leather chappals along with a classy tote, and you've got yourself a voguish summer ethnic outfit.

3. Lightly Printed Boatneck Kurti With Cotton Sharara & Dupatta

While I'd certainly want my summers to be fashionable, I would also like for them to be just as fuss-free. Which is a feeling wonderfully captured by this gorgeous ethnic ensemble. A bit dressier than the other Indian outfits for women we've recommended so far, this look is perfect for all the functions and pujas you may have to attend during peak summers. We love the lavender colour of this attire, along with how free and easy that cotton sharara looks.

4. Embroidered Gherdaar Kurta With Straight Pants

If you've been on the hunt for a beautiful ethnic wear outfit that you can wear to the office from 9 to 5, this is where your search ends. We absolutely love this airy mustard kurta set from Ogaan, which calls attention to a Gherdaar kurta with slightly flared quarter sleeves, and a simple pair of solid cropped straight-leg trousers. Ditch the dupatta, and put your hair in a mess-free up-do for a roomy Indian workwear outfit.

5. Flared Tunic With Tie-Up Knot & Slim-Fit Cotton Pants

Very similar to the tent dress we spoke of earlier, isn't it? Adopting the same inclination for comfort and roomy clothes in our ethnic wear recommendations, we chose this flared tunic with an asymmetrical hem as our ideal ethnic look for balmy days. I love the bright tassel detail of the tie-up strings around the neckline of the kurta, as well as the simple slim-fit cotton pants featuring delicate metallic piping at the hem. All that's remaining is a pair of Kolkhapuris to seal the deal.

6. Ajrakh Cotton Anarkali Set

I'm a lover of Indian prints, and Ajrakh is definitely one of my favourite kinds out there. It looks intricate yet uncomplicated all at once, and if the trends were to be referred to, Ajrakh will emerge as one of the most popular Indian prints for the season of summer. So, coupling it with the flowy style of an Anarkali makes a lot of sense. For bottom wear, we'd recommend going for breezy palazzos in a matching, or complementary print and colour combination.

7. Strappy Asymmetrical Printed Short Kurti With Flared Palazzos

Got a midsummer party to attend, which calls for pretty ethnic clothes? Then one of our top recommendations of Indian outfits for women would include this pastel yellow pair. This set from Bunaai comprises of a strappy short Kurti with an asymmetrical hem and plenty of romantic ruffles, along with an extra-flared pair of palazzos. Adorning the whole outfit are two sets of summery prints, blooming tulips at the top and some wild-flowers at the bottom.

8. Hand-Block Print Angrakha With Cropped Wide Pants

If you're bored of the usual Kurti cuts, an Angrakha is always a very elegant option under ethnic wear for women. This piece comes in vibrant floral hand-block print, and features a bright pink border around the wrap-over neckline. We also love the ruched sleeves and the delicate doris hanging off the hem. Thrown together with it, is a pair of wide-leg pants in a solid pastel shade. Some oxidised silver jewellery is all that's left to add.

9. Linen Halter Kurti & Palazzo Set

Honestly, do I even need to say anything about this one? Just one glance at this olive Indian outfit, and I feel instantly transported to the hotter months of the year. We dig the flowy silhouette of the whole look along with the crisp halter-neck design of the Kurti and the flared flowy palazzos at the bottom. If you're more comfortable that way, you can throw a long-line summer shrug on top to complete this Indian outfit for women.

10. Multicolor Kalamkari Front-Slit Kurta With Pleats & Tailored Pants

Like I said earlier, I love Indian prints. So anything with Kalamkari print is simply irresistible to me. Especially if it looks as graceful as this summery Indian outfit does. This is another idea you can borrow to put together an effortlessly chic office look in the summer. We're fawning over the high front-slit of this Kurti as well as the fresh pleats. A pair of tailored trousers and some silver jhumkis in your ear will finish this look seamlessly.

Indo-Western Outfits

1. Printed Kaftan Dress With Asymmetrical Hem

It does not get easier and breezier than donning a kaftan dress during summers. We love this blue piece with an all-over chequered print. Our favourite feature has got to be that asymmetrical high-low hem, which takes the trend factor of this Indo-Western outfit up several notches. We'd highly suggest pairing the dress with some embellished Kohlapuris and a statement choker necklace. A broad leather belt around the waist would also look extremely classy.

2. Flared Kalamkari Sleeveless Top With Textured Trousers

One of the best fusion fashion hacks I've ever come across, is pairing uniquely Indian prints with solid neutrals. And the magic of that combination is quite evident in this Indo-Western outfit. A summer-ready sleeveless Kalamkari top with flared hem shape and cut-out detailing at the neckline, comes alive in a wonderful summer fusion look when paired with muted brown straight-leg textured trousers. Silver earrings, a chunky bracelet and a free-flowing mane tie it all up perfectly.

3. Block-Print Gathered-Hem Jacket With Strapless Top & Jeans

Printed outerwear featuring ethnic motifs is the simplest and most effective way to rock fusion fashion.  And we see exactly that in this easy-going Indo-western look perfect for hotter days. Sported with a basic white strapless top and a pair of low-rise denims, is a beguiling cropped summer jacket with raised collar details and a light floral print in peach and yellow. Very spring-summer season, don't you think?

4. Cami Tunic With Cropped Baggy Pants

An Indo-Western outfit with just the right touch of grunge? Who woulda thought! If edgier fusion looks are more up your alley, this would make for an ideal summer outfit choice. Just whip out a strappy tunic or Kurta lying around, and pair it on top of some baggy cropped pants. We particularly love the black and military green combination here, but any colour mix that suits your taste will work just as well. We'd also suggest swapping the ankle boots with lighter flip-flops and putting a silver choker around your neck.

5. Cotton Tank With Ethnic-Printed Culottes

Simple as simple can be and also effortlessly graceful, this Indo-Western outfit idea should be your go-to choice for when you need to run around and be comfortable during summers. A cotton textured tank in a solid dark colour, coupled with a pair of high-rise printed culottes will help you channel your best summer fusion look. Dainty danglers or a pair of jhumkis will complement the elegance of this minimal combo flawlessly.

6. Bell-Sleeved Kurti As A Dress

As someone with a peculiar fondness for loose yet flattering silhouettes, wearing a Kurti as a dress appeals to me particularly. Which is why, I wholeheartedly suggest you try out this fusion look idea. Any flared-sleeved cotton Kurti or tunic can be worn as a dress, and taken a notch higher on the trend factor with something as simple as a pair of contrast tassel earrings. Pull your hair back in a sleek bun, and let your breezy Indo-Western outfit grab all the eyes during summer 2021.

7. Kashida-Embroidered Kimono With Boyfriend Jeans & Strappy Tank

Let me reiterate, I love baggy silhouettes. So a kimono shrug fits in perfectly with my idea of a beautiful Indo-Western outfit for summers. Get your hands on a Kimono-style Kashida-embroidery shrug, and the rest will just follow suit. Do remember to include a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans for good measure. Also, if you can find a pair of pointy-toed loafers, you know what to don on the feet.

8. Printed Long Button-Down Shrug With Tunic Dress & Brogues

As hard as it is to take a singular favourite pick from this list of Indo-Western outfits for women, this look would probably be the fusion outfit I'd zero in on. Simply because of how classy yet sassy this combo looks! A basic white tunic dress and a printed open-front shrug with running buttons are immensely elegant together, but that pair of leather brogues just seals the deal for us!

9. Printed Waist Coat With Khadi Dress & Layered Silver Necklaces

Chic and cool, yet gracefully Indian, this summer fusion look is undeniably simple to pull off and gorgeous to don. We'd highly recommend you go for a Khadi short summer dress to bring out the texture-play, but any solid sleeveless dress will fare well here. A pop of colour in the form of a cute printed high-collared waistcoat,t and a few layers of silver necklaces will tie the ensemble together beautifully.

10. Printed Front-Tie Gathered Shrug With Solid Crop Top & Palazzo Set

I have just three words. Actually, just one word repeated thrice. Pretty, pretty and pretty! I might be short of adjectives while describing this summer Indo-Western look, but that's definitely not true for its trend quotient. Another ideal fusion day-look for work or for college in equal measure, all this one needs is a printed front-knot shrug. Don it on top of a solid crop top and palazzo pair, or any pants and top set in similar shades, and add a pair of silver hoops into the mix. Voila, your fusion look for the summer is ready and how!
