PERIODS | MENSTRUATION | MENSTRUAL HYGIENE
FACT - The hymen is the entrance to the vagina which is a loose distensible piece of flesh. It can be easily broken with the simplest of actions including dancing, splits, horse riding etc. When inserting a tampon or a cup, the hymen can be easily broken.\xa0
SO IF YOU THINK THAT A USING A TAMPON MAKES YOU LOSE YOUR "VIRGINITY", you probably need to shed your narrow mindedness while a woman sheds her uterine lining!
Well, if you haven't skipped this post despite reading the strong & powerful words that men and societal taboos can't take - then I guess you're not fit for the society either!
When I had just begun to menstruate, it was the month of October - popularised by the occasion of the holy "Durga puja'' in the state of West Bengal. I was walking towards the pandal in broad daylight to offer some prasad when some 'pados wali aunty' walked up behind me and held my hand to stop me saying "You are not clean. Why are you going near the deity?"
I looked at my perfectly new yellow salwar suit and stood bamboozled as to what went wrong. Thankfully, moments later my mother sensed the uncanny and walked up to my rescue. She gave a cold should to the unknown "aunty", held my hand and once we were done with the offerings she took me home, helped me get changed , helped me put on a fresh sanitary pad and go back to the pandal.
That was when I realised I'd stained the Patiala and that is what triggered the " pados wali aunty ".
It's 2020. You can either be the "pados wali aunty" who is always all set to torment and harass young minds or you can be the one who stands up for oneself.
10 years down the line, owing to a mere urgency - I requested my boyfriend to get me tampons and he was perfectly okay with it! I was overjoyed to have influenced atleast one man!
Menstruation is perfectly normal.
It is NOT awkward to ask your brother, father or boyfriend to get you sanitary pads or tampons.
You are NOT "unclean" if you get your periods.
It is WRONG to torment young girls by telling them any otherwise.
"Women shouldn't enter kitchens during their periods because they cook UNCLEAN FOOD during those days".
YES! why should they step into the kitchen if they cna order food? 😊🥂
Think over and power yourself and others. Dear men, feel free to enlighten others as well.#menstrualhygeineday#menstruationmatters#periodpositive#mythfreeperiods#BetterWorldForWomen
