I recently visited Dalchini and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of healthy options on their menu. I opted for the Chole Rice and I must say it was simply delicious. The rice was cooked to perfection and the chole was flavorful without being too heavy. As someone who values nutrition, I was happy to see that Dalchini offers a range of nutritious options. I also have to mention that the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Overall, I highly recommend Dalchini to anyone

Gajar ka halwa, हाय हाय क्या कहें?
लाजवाब! was the 1st word that came out of my mouth after having a bite of this halwa. It was made with our desi red carrots in desi ghee and was perfectly sweet. They had managed to retain the sweetness of carrots as well. One could make out it's richness by its aroma too. It was garnished with slivers of dry fruits.

Bohri's are firm believers in the “The family that eats together, stays together", entire family eats in one plate called as 'thaal'. I'm totally amused with the way & sequence, they have their food (feast, I mean).

Interestingly, the first thing to start with is salt, as rightly mentioned by Chaitanya, they believe that salt cures 72 diseases. And as mentioned by Mandar it is given by the smallest member of family to all the other people sitting to dine. Then came the rarest #Roohafza, market se aaya mera drink, drink ko gatak lo..

Then comes the 1st course and that's the 1st dessert, as they consider it auspicious to begin their meal with a sweet dish. We tried special Caramel Custard on this 1st course, it is probably a truly global dessert, but this was different as they included rose water in it. It was served cold.

Then comes, Kharaas (savoury dishes) the meat starters
Smoked Mutton Samosa
Mutton kheema smoked with cloves, filled and made in samosa shape and deep fried.. Amazing & extremely flavorful.

Bohri Mohalla Chicken
Fried Chicken in Bohra style. 1st boned chicken is boiled, then is coated with spices, then coated in bread crumbs then dipped in egg mixture, this helps to seal the flavors and then deep fried.

Russian Cutlet
chicken was mixed with mashed potatoes , veggies and seasonings , dipped in egg wash and rolled in vermicelli and deep fried till golden brown. Such delicious chicken cutlet.

Again, followed by another dessert, and we were served with kalamra,
Rice phirni with a twist, or kheer with curd 😍it was divine concoction of rice, curd and sugar. I never imagined kheer or phirni with curd.. It evidently had curd & sweet flavour..

And then it was time for 'jaman' (main course),
Mutton Korma
This aromatic mutton korma was a hit. Rich & thick gravy, delectable & yum..

Camp Style Chicken
Green creamy chicken, had loads of spices.. Both gravies had its own peculiar taste & flavors..

Chicken Seekh Kebab Biryani
This was one mouth watering dum biryani. Seekh kebabs tasted good in it, was perfectly cooked.

Sarson da Saag aur Makke di Roti
Initially I wasn't sure if I'd like it as my 1st try on this a few years ago didn't go well. But as it was Dalchini & Chaitanya with his team I took a chance. And, I'll never regret on taking this chance. The saag made from mustard leaves was tempered lightly with red chilli and was served with 2 maize flour rotis and accompanied by makkhan, jaggery, radish and green chilly. The saag predominantly had mustard greens taste, which one might find a bit pungent or bitter, but can be subsided with radish or jaggery served in the plate! Makke di Roti was done really well was acceptably thick and ekdum garam. Makkhan was fresh and added an amazing makkhani flavour to the dish! A wholesome meal with some authentic punjabi flavours and taste.
