Our badges are our crowns, and our bullet belts are our beauty pageant sashes."🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖 ‌Our college organises Inter-departmental March Past competition on the annual sports day, where 16 students from each department are selected to represent their Department in front of the college and chief guests. And I'm the type of person who never misses a chance to stand up for my Department, which is why I had to participate in this competition. Luckily, I got shortlisted in the team of 16 students. We learnt how to drill and most importantly, how to coordinate with the whole team. It took us 6 hours practice daily for a month to get where we wanted to. We even used to go to college on Sundays and practice to make our Department win (because it had never won in the past). We even kept a theme which said "Woman by gender and warrior by choice." We not only focused on the skills needed for a perfect drill, but also wanted to make an impact from our costume. Blue coloured t-shirts were given by the college only. We paired them up with blue cargo pants (we got them stitched from a factory in Ghaziabad), blue caps, white spades and white gloves (which did full justice with the overall blue outfit) and black gola shoes. We even wanted to have a white hackle on the cap but couldn't find any. Now, the costume was ready and so were we for THE DAY. All of us came with full determination and that spark to take the trophy home. Judges were ready, along with all the teams. Then came our turn. We started our drill. By the time we reached near the stage, we were full of energy and all set to make that perfect salute. Our aim was to do it so perfectly that the judges stand up to salute us back. And guess what? They did! It was such a proud moment for us. Then, we were just waiting for the results to get announced. Afterall, we had practiced for so long for this particular moment. And finally, they announced our name and for the very first time, Mathematics Department won the trophy of BEST MARCH PAST TEAM. All of us were so happy and proud at the same time. Our efforts, our determination and our team work served as the key ingredients in the recipe of our victory.
