“I didn’t just go to college… I lived there. And sometimes I feel I haven’t left that place yet”. Today, you suit up for your job each morning. Your colleagues might know you as a consultant, a manager or a whatever. But have you ever felt that some parts of your college life have never really left you? Memories catch you off-guard and very often rush back reminding you of what it was like back then - The hanging-out, all the furious studying (or the lack of it!), the heart-breaks and the joy of achievement. You’re not alone when you realize there are quite a few things about college days that won’t leave you alone- and that’s a good thing! For those who feel a bit skeptical at this point, you know not all the experiences you faced in college days were necessarily good. But you will admit that those few years that zipped by left a lasting impression on you! If you were to visit your alumnus today, here are some things you wouldn’t want to miss for anything in the world! You may or may not have experienced all of these, but don’t deny your face a smile as you read on! 1. Canteen -\xa0Adda Tis’ where ‘life’ happens! The college canteen not only served up food from popular cuisines - North Indian, South Indian, Chinese and more - it is an unofficial hub for all things college! As a first-year student, you would breathe a sigh of relief when you had reached the canteen. The place could be new, but at least the sight and aroma of food is familiar! Girls and guys, nerds and multi-talented gems, seniors and juniors, professors and staff, all converge at this one place to get their share of idlis, vadas, chai, Schezwan noodles, Orange juice, cold coffee and everything else in between. All through college, you had established a familiarity with the bhaiya who had served you and the aunty at the counter. And you knew what do when a friend felt low after an exam. That’s right –go for chai at the canteen. Want to meet project-mates for a quick discussion? Want to get some quick food for family who’s visiting? Want to celebrate placements? Canteen was the emphatic answer! You would love to walk into that place today. You hope the old crew has not changed, and that you can still order a glass of cold coffee. 2. Classroom –\xa0Karam-bhoomi No visit to your college would be complete without walking by your old classroom. Classrooms were the place you were first introduced to your classmates - fellow students who would be travel-companions for those short years. You were also introduced to your teachers, who had the responsible task of passing on knowledge that played a part in getting you where you are today. You had your favourite teachers and the not-so favourite ones too. You hope they all are still around! As a new student, there were times you walked into a classroom and realized it was the wrong one - You made new discoveries, faced consequences for misadventures, groaned and cheered together through mid-sem exams, group discussions, practicals, assignments and projects - all that had so much to do with the classroom. Today, you could walk blindfolded into that classroom and find your bench. And for all that you learnt back, you’re somehow thankful. You would’ve liked everyone back in their respective seats now, wouldn’t you? 3. The Dungeons, or Exam halls –Bachao! Few things strike terror into the hearts of students like examinations do. And even if you’re well-prepared, you still have fears looming ahead. And as if this was not enough, there was the sight of the exam halls – bags piled up outside, the eerie silence inside, the collective gulps and the seats! Add to that the invigilator coming ominously with the question papers – in that moment you would have gladly traded places with Frodo who needs to enter the treacherous land of Mordor. When the last exam would finally get over, you would rush out with the same eagerness with which Harry Potter would emerge on Hogwarts’ grounds to play Quidditch. The joy would not last for long though – if exam halls were bad, results were somehow worse! Results revealed to you the truth in that memorable line from the movie 3 Idiots – Dost fail ho jaye toh dukh hota hai ... lekin dost first aa jaye toh zyada dukh hota hai Translation -\xa0“It feels bad when a friend fails ... but it feels even worse when he comes first”. And even though your class did finally make it through and now exams are history, you somehow miss those times! #magicinbanagalore #bangalore #back2college #college #fun #like #captiontofollow #follow #bangaloredays #Christuniversity
