My Worst Jio Customer Care Experience (Sept 2025)

**Day 1 – Friday, 12 Sept 2025**
I lost my eSIM when my iPhone got damaged. While the phone was still working, I raised an eSIM transfer request, but it was never processed. I repeatedly tried to “recall” (IVR call for consent), but I never received the call. Eventually, I deleted the eSIM since the phone was going for repair. I thought I could easily transfer it later at any nearby Jio Store.

**Day 2 – Saturday, 13 Sept 2025**
Next morning, I visited my nearest Jio Store, but they said for SIM transfer/lost eSIM I must go to Dadri Jio Store (15 km away, outside the main city). Since all my UPI apps, office apps, and daily-use apps are linked to this number, I had no choice but to drive there. At Dadri, the staff said their POS device wasn’t working and asked me to come back tomorrow. I waited for an hour, noticing they had another POS device working for new SIM customers, but when they checked my number, my earlier eSIM transfer request was still in process. I had already called 198/199 to cancel it, but they told me it would take 24 hours. With nothing resolved, I returned home.

**Day 3 – Monday, 15 Sept 2025**
I went to my nearby Jio Store (Alpha 2 Market). The staff said since my eSIM was from UP-East, they couldn’t help and again asked me to go to Dadri. After insisting, they checked my number on POS and confirmed the eSIM request was still in process. I explained customer care told me it would be cancelled after 24 hrs, but it wasn’t. Finally, they advised me to visit the Jio Service Center (Surajpur) to get the request cancelled.

**Day 4 – Tuesday, 16 Sept 2025**
At Surajpur Service Center, the front desk staff were rude. They first asked where I got the SIM from (UP-East) and immediately said I must go to Dadri. I told them customer care assured me I could get a SIM from any Jio Store, but they bluntly replied that 198/199 people don’t know the technicalities. To make it worse, from this day onward I could no longer connect to 198/199 customer care representatives (possibly blocked after repeated calls). My friend tried from his Jio number and was able to connect.
Frustrated, I told the Surajpur staff I wouldn’t leave until they resolved my issue. The person sarcastically said, “If you don’t have anything to do, you can waste your time here.” I was being treated like some illiterate villager with no respect or empathy. After a long wait, they escalated to a senior, who admitted they needed to send an email to cancel the pending eSIM request. Only then did things start moving.

**One thing is - Jio Senior Representative/ Manager at Jio Service Center - they are good & listened and provided resolution, problem is at Jio Stores guys and front Desk Guys at these locations**

**Day 5 – Wednesday, 17 Sept 2025**
I went back to the Surajpur Service Center, confident the issue was resolved. Yet again, the front desk staff repeated: “Your SIM is of UP-East, go to Dadri.” I requested multiple times for him to at least check my number on POS. After much reluctance, he finally did and confirmed I could now proceed with eKYC. My eKYC was successful, and I finally got my new eSIM activated on my phone.
However, before handing it over, he asked me to pay ₹50 over his personal Paytm number, which I paid.
Later, I Googled and found out that issuing a new eSIM is free of cost. I felt cheated on top of all the harassment.

This entire episode has been a nightmare:
* Customer care (198/199) gave false promises and then became unreachable.
* Jio Store staff were rude, dismissive, and kept sending me from one center to another.
* No empathy, no accountability, and no customer handling etiquette.
* In the end, I was even scammed into paying ₹50 for something free.
I currently hold 2 Jio numbers and 2 Jio Fiber connections, but after this, I swear to myself I will switch everything to Airtel/VI, even if they cost more or have weaker networks. What matters most is customer care during critical situations, and Jio has completely failed me.
