It was perhaps in '21 when I first happened to stroll into a non descript and unadorned SI factory outlet in Gurgaon. In a world where packaging is more important than substance, the barebones SI factory did raise a few doubts. The same doubts that any new customer harbors even today. Is it a legit brand? Is the willow truly english? And if so, why are they priced so economically? After all, almost every EW cricket bat manufacturer sources the willow from the same JS Wright in UK. How can this brand sell it at such a lower price point?

Over the course of the next few years, I discovered and uncovered every layer there is to the highly nuanced cricket bat manufacturing industry.

Let me tell you I have picked up more SI bats than there are in this picture. Probably as many more. (Many of which I gave away to young talented batsmen in the clubs I play for - just so I can guilt-free hoard the remaining). The reason I indulge in this exhorbitant spree is because it is not at all exhorbitant. The astonishing price point SI offers tempts you into building a collection. Most bats you see here are grade one - and not just aesthetically but in performance too. Pressed to perfection, shaped meticulously, balanced and re-balanced until they feel just right in the hands. The same bats cost around 4 times more when you go to a more famous brand. Because that famous brand has to pay truckloads to international players so that the name needs no introduction.

SI needs an introduction. And that is a small price to pay for the absolute gems that you are going to lay your hands on.

The fact that SI sponsors no international players allows it to keep its costs to a minimum. Add to that the fact that they don't engage in unnecessarily expensive frills like leather bat cases or wooden coffins more suited for dead bodies. All this contributes to SI expertly managing its overhead costs and passing on the benefit to the end user. If it's an absolute checkbox for you, many international players have secretly played with SI gear and have been charmed by its owner's experience, knowledge and straightforwardness.

Which is the second part of the argument. Devashish, who owns this stellar brand, is a very respected figure in the cricketing circles of NCR. A terrific all-rounder of the bygone era, his widespread fame as a cricketer refuses to die down. Unlike other players in cricket gear manufacturing, Devashish draws from personal experience as an ex cricketer and juices every bit of it to personally guide you about what sort of equipment suits you best. No other Indian batmaker can offer this level of in-depth customization and that's a bigger draw than the economical pricing. From the shape of the toe to the shape of the handle - and everything in between - there is no dearth of inputs and no lack of excitement either. For someone who's made over a lakh bats, he displays Dravidian patience as he checks out every cleft in the yard to help you in your pursuit for the most perfect grains (even though he knows bloody well the grains don't matter).

I often tell him the only thing stopping him from super stardom is his absolute lack of interest in PR. But he likes it low profile and having known him for half a decade now, I think that is a wise decision.

The bats are world class and so is the soft leather. In fact, some of the innovations In the world of batting gloves trace themselves back to SI. Which again is a little known fact.

The attached picture isn't to show off. But it is difficult to make the point I am trying to make without proving it comes from first hand experience. Go ahead and take the plunge. This brand will change the way you approach choosing cricket equipment. In turn, change the way you approach the game.

Now to show off - I have scored almost 10,000 runs with these bats. So you can take my word for it. Nothing makes the day quite like drilling one through the covers with an SI bat and knowing the fielder was within reach but didn't have the courage to stick his hand out.

Been getting my bats from SI Factory Outlet for a while now, and they’ve never disappointed. The balance, pickup, and ping are exactly what you’d expect from a high-end custom piece — no gimmicks. They used to be good... But now, they are following the holy grail footsteps of all sports shops in Gurgaon. I had given a bat for reparing on 30 Aug, and they had mentioned in the bill that the bat would be repaired by 1 September. Today it is 9th September, and after 10 calls, they are saying that - "Bat mil nahi Raha".

Would request all to not avail the services of SI anymore.

Excellent place for made to order bats and customisation. All cricketing accessories are available at best prices. Devashish is an ex-cricketer and runs it with passion and honesty.

The quality of bats is absolutely top notch. To be honest, these bats are no less than any other top brands in the market. I must say that you should come and give a try at least once.

This a fraud shop . Not recommended. I went for bat repair and work was not done completely and bat was returned in half ready condition and had to pay extra amount to get bat back ready completely.
