This red magical liquid made out of grapes makes us drool even at the thought of it. This is what most of our Saturday nights are composed of and of course, a little bit of dancing and a lot of laughter. Especially in a country like India, where wine is not celebrated as much as vodka, whiskey, and other beverage, we still bring you the brands that are ruling the Indian red wine sector in one article. There is still no concept of vintage wine in India, so the best of best wine brands in India will taste the same no matter the number of years they are stored for. The quality of wines in India is, however, getting much better and the wineries are getting much better in doing their jobs. 

 

1. SULA RASA

Sula Rasa or Rasa Shiraz is best served at 16-degree Celsius. A complex wine with power finesse but regardless termed as India's best reserve shiraz, Sula Rasa is stored for 12 months in premium French oak barrels and then further matured in the bottle before release. The blend is of a Classic Sauvignon and fruity Shiraz aged in French oak barrels for 18 months but also retained the natural characteristics due to being unfiltered. This red delivers a smoky aroma, with notes of bacon to the dark plum and roasted cherry flavors. The soft finish features some peppery notes. La Reserve has a bouquet of luscious ripe fruits with an exquisite hint of spice and complexity. With blueberries, blackcurrant and vanilla aromas, it combines grace and majesty on the palate.

This flagship wine from Maharashtra's York winery, produced by a young winemaking team, is a limited production blend of the winery’s best Shiraz (55%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (45%). The wine is aged 13 months in American and French oak, and another 12 months in the bottle before release. The sweet vanilla notes of the American oak dominate, along with bright fruit (strawberries, raspberries, cherries) and Indian spices (cinnamon). The wine further opened up and softened in the glass. The alcohol initially made its presence felt, before dissipating in the glass. 6. KRSMA SANGIOVESE

8. SOL DE CHILE SYRAH MERLOT

The wine has a luscious rose color. It is a well-balanced wine with raspberry and black pepper flavors. In order to extract color and aromas, the must is in contact at low temperatures prior to alcoholic fermentation. The must is then fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature. The wine is then left to macerate additional days in order to extract tannins.
