One of the best places to come for a Thali Lunch. Not sure about the other items on the menu budgeting by the taste of everything we had on the thali. I'm sure their other menu items would also be equally tasty. This is a pure veg restaurant and they do not serve any non veg or alcohol. There is wale parking available so it's ok if you travel here by your own vehicle. The valley parking is chargeable though. The ambience and seating and staff are really good. If you go during peak hours you may have to wait to get a table so it is always better to go a little early. Very close to the Aqua line Churchgate Metro Station so it is very easily accessible even by foot. The pricing for the thali is extremely reasonable for this part of the city and I guess you will get your best value for money if you order the thali. They have clean washrooms here too.

If you are near Churchgate railway station or in nearby area and want a good dining experience near to fine dine then your search ends here. 💯 Samrat really offers a very good dining experience with it's high quality food and offering delicious flavours. Price is bit on the higher side but the quality and service which they provide is excellent no doubt.

One of the best vegetarian restaurants in Mumbai. I choose thali and food was delicious with so many varieties. The staff were amazing and came around to top up the thali. It's very busy restaurant especially in the evening. Atmosphere inside is welcoming and lovely decor. I would certainly recommend this restaurant.

One of the best Thalis in South Mumbai. I love the Kadhi and Sweet Dal they serve along with farsan. Best vibe and service.

Samrat Restaurant in Churchgate is a true delight for anyone who appreciates authentic vegetarian Indian cuisine. The place exudes an elegant, old-school charm with a peaceful ambiance, making it ideal for both family get-togethers and formal meetings. The star attraction is the Gujarati thali — beautifully arranged and generously portioned with farsan, vegetables, dal, kadhi, puris, rotis, rice, and a sweet dish. Every item is fresh, full of flavor, and brings the comfort of home-cooked food. The staff is warm and attentive, always ensuring your plate is full and your experience is pleasant. Beyond the thali, their Punjabi dishes are just as impressive. We tried the Veg Kolhapuri, Chana Palak, and Chole Bhature — all packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. The garlic naan was soft, perfectly cooked, and complemented the curries beautifully. The entire restaurant is spotless and very well-maintained. Despite the crowd during peak hours, the service is smooth, quick, and efficient. The staff deserves a special mention for their excellent hospitality — friendly, prompt, and professional. A special shout-out to Chef Raju More, whose passion for cooking truly reflects in every dish. His culinary skills add that special touch, making each meal feel crafted with love. Whether you’re a Mumbaikar or just visiting South Mumbai, Samrat Restaurant is a must-visit spot for a hearty, satisfying, and authentic vegetarian dining experience.

The Tali are absolutely fabulous! Very attentive staff and you get all you can possibly eat! We are vegans and they where very helpful in letting us know which dishes where not vegan.

If you’re visiting Mumbai and craving proper home-style Gujarati food, don’t skip Samrat Restaurant. The thali is solid and comforting. Plenty of small dishes with real flavour. Good dal and kadhi, fresh rotis, crunchy papad, proper pickles, and multiple shak options. The vibe is lively in a very Mumbai way. Staff are friendly and efficient even when it’s packed. There are three seating areas, two downstairs and a large dining hall upstairs, so things move faster than you’d expect. They also have a takeaway section with loads of namkeen and traditional Gujarati sweets, which is a dangerous bonus on the way out. No trends, no gimmicks. Just dependable, satisfying vegetarian food that feels like home.

So our entire family went together for lunch on a Sunday. First of all the ambience is good, despite of the restaurant being busy & full it was pretty comfortable to enjoy the meal. Each & every dish we ordered was delicious and also the service was very good. The staff was literally hands on for all customers and didnt make us wait for long to serve the lunch. Being to Samrat after a long time but the experience was excellent

The staff were attentive and service was prompt, which added to the overall relaxed meal. The setting is clean and comfortable, making it a good choice for a casual family or group dinner. Got the same experience on my recent that I had 10 years ago. Tasty Food, excellent service, nice ambience & a very good enjoyable experience overall. Tried time tested Gujarati Thali & was completely satisfied with what I got. Photos show the variety & everything except Sweet Dish was served as much as you want. Rs. 525 for a Gujarati Thali for a weekday Lunch is a perfect choice if you are craving for good quality food that can remind you of your home. Do check it out if you in the area. Will be back when I get a chance again.
