I honestly didn't know it was possible to make sambar rice look—and taste—so heartbreaking. When this dish arrived, it looked less like a culinary creation and more like a beige sludge that had given up on life. The rice was cooked into a paste, completely losing its texture, while the sambar had the consistency of thin, sad gravy. As for the taste? It was an aggressive assault of raw turmeric and tamarind, with absolutely no depth or balance of spices. It was aggressively bland yet somehow overpowering at the same time. The vegetables inside were boiled into oblivion, offering zero texture. This was a profoundly disappointing experience. I would not recommend this to anyone.
