If you landed here you’re probably going to travel soon. You yourself know best what you want to and need to pack. In this blog of the ‘How To Pack For A Holiday’ series, we are going to tell you about what NOT to pack for your best convenience.

1. Valuables

Traveling with objects that have an economic or sentimental value to you is not a sensible decision. No matter how careful you are, no matter how tight the security of your hotel is, there is still a chance of things going wrong. Keep your cards safe, don’t carry all or most of your cash around all the time, don’t carry all your gadgets to your vacations. And most importantly, keep your travel documents and identity proofs safe.

2. Your collection of good reads

If you’re going on a vacation, you obviously want to enjoy it to the fullest. Instead of reading a book in the balcony of your hotel room, you should be out there exploring the place. If you are a reader and want to carry something to read for the long flight or the layover, take your e-reader along. The books you might want to carry will also take up considerable amount of space and weigh down your suitcase.

3. Toiletries

Taking your bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash, body lotion and what not to your vacations is definitely not something you should do. You can carry those small travel size pouches or bottles of face wash, deodorants, lip balm, etc for the flight but that should be about it. All hotels have shampoos and other stuff, and if not, they do sell all of that in other countries so you’re good to go.

4. Your favorite eatables

Unless you’re the mother visiting your child studying abroad, you really don’t need to take besan ke laddu, aam ka achaar or desi ghee to your trip. In fact even then you shouldn’t. Now a days you can find almost anything and everything all over the world, and if not, there are always replacements. Moreover, you’re going to a different place, make yourself open to their culture, their food, their authenticity. A little change is good after all.

5. Extra clothing and footwear

You don’t need 6 pairs of shoes or jeans or coats to your week long vacation. Things like these which can easily be repeated are not required in bulk. They will only take up a lot of space which could have been used for some other, possibly more important stuff. Also, instead of stuffing your suitcase with clothes from back home, you should leave a considerable amount of space free to keep all those things you shop for from there.
