Yesterday evening, we visited Calcutta Kitchen, a cozy restaurant specializing in Kolkata-style biryani, Bengali cuisine, and sweets. The bright red signboard with Bengali motifs and the Howrah Bridge immediately gave a nostalgic vibe, setting the tone for an authentic experience. Inside, the ambience was warm and homely. Bright orange chairs, simple décor, and a glass entrance created a cheerful yet relaxed atmosphere. Though not very large, the space felt inviting, perfect for enjoying comforting Bengali food. The service was quick and polite. Our food arrived fresh and hot, and the staff checked in to ensure everything was satisfactory—a thoughtful touch that added to the experience. We ordered four dishes: Chicken Biryani, Chicken Thali, Doi Katla, and Rosogolla. • The Chicken Biryani stood out with its fragrant long-grain rice, tender chicken, and signature boiled egg. Unlike spicy Hyderabadi or rich Lucknowi versions, this had the light yet flavorful Kolkata style. • The Chicken Thali was wholesome, with rice, dal, chicken curry, sabzis, papad, and salad. The chicken curry was rich and homely, while the dal added comfort. • The highlight was Doi Katla, a creamy yogurt-based fish curry with fresh Katla fish, tangy and mildly spiced, perfectly capturing authentic Bengali flavors. • We ended with a soft, spongy Rosogolla, light and perfectly sweet, a true taste of Bengal’s most famous dessert. Food quality was excellent, hygiene well-maintained, and portions generous. Prices felt fair considering the authenticity and variety. Overall, the experience felt like a slice of Bengal—flavorful food, warm service, and homely vibes. I’d rate it 7/10. For anyone craving authentic Kolkata biryani, Bengali curries, or sweets, Calcutta Kitchen is definitely worth a visit.

Stumbled upon Calcutta Kitchen in Pune and was genuinely surprised! The biryani and fish thali were superb — packed with that authentic Bengali flavour you usually only find back in West Bengal. Tried a few sweets too — all proper Bengali-style, fresh and nostalgic. Honestly, it didn’t feel like I was thousands of kilometers away from Kolkata. If you're craving real Bengali food in Pune, this place is a hidden gem.

Went here for a quick bite.. Tried their Chicken and mutton biryani.. The Biryani was decent, It was delicious.. This restaurant has been on my wishlist for quite a while now.. The food👌🏽good service👌🏽 the ambience is good, Even though I only had these couple of dishes, I'd recommend the place..A good place to dine with family🫶🏼
