Maratha Samrat Hotel in Pune serves the best chicken and mutton thali I’ve ever had. The flavors are authentic, rich, and perfectly balanced—true Maharashtrian taste. The mutton was tender and full of spice, and the chicken had that homely, soulful flavor that’s hard to find. Portions are generous, the food is fresh, and everything on the thali complements each other beautifully. If you love traditional non-veg Maharashtrian food, this place is an absolute must-visit!

We ordered Mutton Handi with Chapathi, Chicken Biryani, Surmei Tawa Fish Fry, Caramel, Rose Kharvas, Jaggery Kharvas.

Each item is very good. But the Mutton was the best of all. Definitely one of the softest mutton meat I've ever had, just the way mutton must be cooked.

I've had Rose Kharvas for the first time, really good one to end the meal with.

Let me start with I have had much much better Thali… and priced way more reasonably than here.

So they have 2 options in the mutton and chicken Thali
1. Fry
2. Gravy

The funny part is the fry has 2 fry’s - Kala and regular and the gravy has regular fry and gravy

I wanted the Kaala fry and the gravy but there is no option as such, why would I want 2 fry’s?
*Fry means - like tossed

I asked them to give me the gravy thali with the Kala fry and they bluntly refused. It was a very bad experience initially, the way the staff spoke and were rude and were not at all accommodating. Later they gave me just the gravy without the meat and they they were very polite that was after they realised that I their logic was illogical and asked them to inform the management.

First time I had been there years ago and the service was excellent and the restaurant was very accommodating, this time I was quite disappointed.

I know places where the quantity is way more and the price is way cheaper, if they are not accomodating I can understand, here when you charge double and behave like a street side stall… that says it all.

Food was average.

Food was really good — we tried the Thali, and it was absolutely worth it!
We actually went there twice because we loved it so much. The rassa was rich and flavorful, and the fish thali was superb — truly authentic Maharashtrian-style food.
The portions are generous and quite filling for one person. In fact, we shared one thali between two people, and it was still more than enough.
Service was great too! If you’re confused about what to order, just ask the waiter — they’re knowledgeable and happy to help you choose the right dish.
Overall, a wonderful experience with genuine Maharashtrian flavours and warm service. Highly recommended!

The food was really nice. The service however was quite bad. The servers were so confused and messed up our order at multiple instances. We loved the food nevertheless. The kala mutton fry thali is highly recommended.

Yesterday, I went to the Hotel Maratha Samrat. We ordered a chicken thali and a vegetarian thali. The chicken thali was fine... I liked the white rassa, but the solkadi was the best. But don't even try the vegetarian thali. this hotel is overhyped. However, the ambiance is excellent.

Menu has typical maharashtrian money dishes.
We went for a quick bite but the place is suitable for main course.
We had drumstick soup which was awesome. Bhurji was good. Overall experience was okay.

After hearing a lot of appreciation about this place visited it for the first time. Ordered prawns rava fry and mutton with roti and Alni bhaat. Mutton roti and alni bath was very good, however prawns lacked freshness. Although the service was good later on initially the staff was not very attentive.
Recommend a visit to this place for mutton.

The sol kadi with thali was completely spoilt. There was spoilt coconut smell and taste. When we asked the waiter to check it they argued with us that it was amsol ka flavour. When asked they confirmed that the sol kadi was prepared in the morning. So definitely by 3pm it was spoilt. The waiter asked me how do I make sol kadi at home, marati style, and what ingredients do I use and keep on arguing that it was their unique flavour and not spoilt kadi. Very disappointing. If u r having food there post 3pm please check the smells of the dishes especially the one that has coconut. curry was also smelling of spoilt coconut. First visit  worst experience. Owners or managers please take this issue forward. We come with an enthusiasm and happy heart for the food. No customer deserves a spoilt food service.

Nice and tasty but little costly. Opposite to virology lab , parking there . Asly Marathi food . Drink must try . Kala mutton thali is famous . Non veg is more option available

Visited this place yesterday to know the hype. The place is slightly on an expensive side. We had to wait for an hour to get the table since we went post Ganapati visarjan day. The food is okayish. I have had better food at other places in Pune with less price. The kala mutton fry was good. The kheema and lal mutton was okay. Kheema had no taste at all. They charge extra for bhakari so keep that in mind. The service was super slow, we had to call the waiter and remind him about what we need multiple times. Overall okayish experience. Definitely not worth the hype.

Maratha Samrat a few years ago was one of my favourite restaurants. But in the recent times it has lost its mojo. The quality of food is good. But the flavours seem to have gone missing. But what is more significant is the pricing of the dishes served. 500/- bucks odd for a single mutton dish portion doesn't feel justified. The appalling part is the pricing of a coke glass that is billed at 90/- bucks per glass plus GST. Same goes for the dessert Caramel custard that is priced 190/- Rs. which is simply outrageous. At 1200/- Rs per head there are more and better options serving the same cuisine in and around Pune.

You will get Premium non veg thali . tasty,  lots of options in sea food as well as in non veg

Good food at good place at a good price is a rare experience. Ordered thalis and they tasted good. The quality of keema was lesser than expected in the thali and the size of the meat chunks are bit smaller than usual. The kharwas was delicious and so was the kulfi. Good place for family dine outs.

Clean and simple. Food was really good across the board. Chicken was well-cooked, as was the fish. Sol kadi was a bit sweet for my liking.
Surely recommend and will visit again.

The food here is super tasty, really flavorful and satisfying. Service is friendly and welcoming, and the place is clean and cozy. Definitely one of the best spots to eat in this area. Great for both locals and foreigners

Really worth it :) The place offers very warm and homey ambience with traditional decoration on the wall. The foods are tasty and offer a wide variety of choices. The place used to be visited by a lot of popular people including politicians. Worth a try!

Quite good with each dish offered having authentic Maharashtrian regional based meat preparations. Pricing for the quantity served is on the higher side.

Chicken Pulao 3.5/5
Decent but the quantity served is quite less.

Egg biryani 4/5
No complaints, egg lovers will definitely enjoy.

Mosak ice cream 4/5
Very nice modak infusion. Definitely worth ordering

Kesar Pista Kulfi 4/5
Good

Overall, it's a nice place for lunch or dinner. I will definitely visit again.

The staff is very humble and courteous! Loved the ambience. Food was delicious. Specially enjoyed the refreshing glass of Sol Kadhi and ‘melt in your mouth’ textured caramel custard. Definitely a must try!
